Jun 10, 2015 An extremely leftist piece of environmental propaganda, The Day After Tomorrow sacrifices character and plot in favor of a political message. However, given that the film's premise is taken from a book co-authored by paranormal radio talk show host Art Bell, the "science" is suspect at best. And the piss-poor script doesn't help any, as the characters are one-dimensional and the plot is ridiculous. Additionally, leads Dennis Quaid and Jake Gyllenhaal are horribly miscast and have no charisma. Yet the special effects are quite impressive, and the disaster sequences are visually stunning. But unfortunately, The Day After Tomorrow is more concerned with politics than good storytelling...and it shows.
